    Acadian Museum
The Gallery of Our Ancestors: Renaissance of a People is now on view at the Acadian Museum. This exhibition features a collection of about 80 charcoal portraits and photos of Island Acadian ancestors, from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These portraits and photos, many in beautiful old frames, are from the Acadian Museum’s collection. Most of the main family names of today’s Island Acadians are represented. On the eve of the 250th anniversary in 2008 of the Deportation of Island Acadians, these ancestral portraits illustrate the renaissance of a people. This exhibition displays some of the faces of Acadians who were born around the 1800s, whose grandparents lived through the Deportation of 1758. Open Mon to Fri 9:30 am5 pm; Sun 14 pm.
