Nils Ling and Cynthia MacLeod work together in New Glasgow

Cynthia MacLeod Two Prince Edward Island entertainers join together this summer in a show that features fiddling and comedic stories in a riverside setting.

Fiddlin’ With The Truth brings together Cynthia MacLeod, twice named PEI’s Entertainer of the Year, and Canadian humorist and storyteller Nils Ling for Tuesday night performances in the River Theatre at Island Preserve Company in New Glasgow.

“Cynthia is a favourite with Island audiences,” says Ling. “And proper thing. She’s so dynamic and exciting onstage, just a mesmerizing talent. And what I love the most about her is that she is always growing as an artist, pushing herself to play better, performer better, choosing new and interesting tunes. She sets the bar high, not just for herself but for every entertainer on the Island.”

Fiddlin’ With The Truth blends MacLeod’s high-energy fiddling with Ling’s wit and ear for a good funny story. A nationally syndicated humour columnist, Ling has toured across Canada, through the UK and into the United States with two one-man shows, The Truth About Daughters and The Truth About Love and/or Marriage. A few years ago, he and MacLeod joined with singer Gordon Belsher to tour across Alberta and into Ontario with a show they called The Truth About Christmas.

“I love the combination of music and laughter,” says Cynthia MacLeod. “It’s so much fun to do shows where you look out into the audience and see all these people with huge grins on their faces. It pumps my energy up even higher.”

Each Tuesday night show will feature a special musical guest to play along with Cynthia and add some songs into the mix

Nils Ling Ling is excited to be in the River Theatre. “You just don’t have a more perfect setting for a show than this,” he says. “We’re hoping folks will come in to the Island Preserve Company for supper, look around the gift shop, have a wander around the spectacular Gardens of Hope, through the forest paths…and end up in this screened-in but open-air theatre on the River Clyde for the show.”

Fiddlin’ With The Truth takes off every Tuesday night at 7:30 pm through the summer, beginning July 13.
