    Wellington Summer Daycamp
    Then The Boys and Girls Club of Wellington and Area is offering a Summer Daycamp program June 23 to August 30, for youth 5­12 years of age, Mon to Fri from 7:00 am­5:30 pm. Your child can come to the Club at a reasonable cost and enjoy planned activities and have lots of fun with their friends in a well supervised environment.     Children’s musical at Zion
    Zion Presbyterian Church invites everyone to come see The King of the Jungle, a children’s musical featuring story, song, a black light production and plenty of jungle critters. Curtain opens at 7:30 pm on May 25 at the church, which is located at the corner of Grafton and Prince Streets. Freewill offering will be taken. 566-5363 or admin@zionpres.org

    Montague art camps
    The Centre For Performing ARTS in Montague offers summer camps. Dance Camp Intensive 2008 is holding registration for new students for summer camp for July and August. Combo theatre, music, dance camps and arts and crafts camps will be offered throughout the summer. Contact the centre at centreforperformingartspei@yahoo.ca. or call 838-2787 to register. The Centre is located at 20 School Street, Montague. Students who volunteer may be eligible for provincial student bursary funding for post secondary scholarships.

    Drama activities
    Drama programs for children and youth are accepting registration: 1-week summer day camp Aug 25­29 on “Body Work for the Stage” (agility training and coordination, relaxation and breathing, creative movement, etc.) for ages 6-15; drama classes for ages 5­15 Sept 13­Oct 25; 10:00­11:30 am; play-writing classes for ages 10­15; 12:00­2:00 pm beginning Sept 13 with performances of generated material in the spring of 2009.     Visual Arts Program
    Let your child learn through doing at the Young@Arts visual arts camps located in the Schurman Family Studio, Confederation Centre. Camps are taught by Sandi Hartling, a graduate from the BFA program at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Newfoundland. Each week will focus on a different theme; campers will work daily on developing foundational skills in the visual arts such as drawing, painting, and art criticism. Camps are for campers ages 7­12, 9 am­4 pm. Dates for sessions and themes are as follows: June 30­July 4 book and papermaking; July 7­11 printmaking; July 14­18 sculpture; July 21­25 photography; July 28­Aug 1 performance art; August 4­8, graphic art; Aug 11­15, textiles; Aug 18 - 22, tbc.     ART PD Days for Kids
    Keep kid’s boredom away by signing them up for Art PD Days in the Schurman Family Studio and Confederation Centre Art Gallery. Kids will meet a gallery guide for an in depth look at an exhibition. Afterwards, participants will work with a professional artist and create a masterpiece that will find a place in your home.     Family Sunday
    Family Sunday at the Confederation Centre Gallery in Charlottetown is May 18 from 2­4 pm. The focus of this month’s Family Sunday is the Wayne Boucher exhibit. Explore colour and more. For children ages 4 to 10, and their caregivers.

    Children Love To Dance
    The teachers and students of Shirley’s Celtic Studio of The Dance will present their annual dance recital, Children Love To Dance on the Mainstage of the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown May 11 at 2 pm. The performance will consist of dancers from the ages of 3 and up. Many different styles of dance will be featured including tap, step, clogging, highland, Scottish national and Irish dancing. Tickets for the May 11 performance are available at the Confederation Centre box office.

    Sharing a Love of Nature
    “Sharing a Love of Nature” programs take place at the Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead in Orwell this summer: July 7­11 for ages 6­8; July 21­25 for ages 8­10; August 4­8 for ages 10­12; and August 18­22 for ages 6­12. Children will learn about birds, forests, wildflowers, amphibians, water and mammals and take part in a wide variety of nature-related activities and games. Activities will take place in the Nature Centre and on the Homestead grounds. The programs run from 9 am to 3 pm.To register or for info call Eric at 651-2575.     Artist Trading Cards
    The Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown is holding an Artist Trading Card (ATC) event for youth. TeenATC will take place in the Art Gallery on May 16 from 7­9 pm. “Artist Trading Cards are miniature works of art about the size of a credit card. ATCs can be made out of anything possible (wood, drawings, wool, pictures, etc.) for trading. Feel free to use your imagination to create something different and original,” says Mélanie Comeau, a co-op student at the Centre organizing the event. Youth ages 13 to 18 were asked to register in April. Any teens May attend the May 16 event but only registered participants can take part in the trading. There is no cost to participate or attend.

    Cavern
    The Cavern holds an open mic Fri night Coffee House. Band ShowCase Sat nights. Ultimate SOUND-OFF, Battle of the Bands is held the last Fri of each month through summer. Register in advance.     Dance for Youth
    Murphy’s Community Centre hosts a monthly Dance for Youth. Doors open for Grades 4­6 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and for Grades 7­9 from 8:00 to 10:30 pm. Tickets at the door. This program runs on the 2nd Fri of each month of the school year.
