The PEI Symphony Orchestra will be holding their annual Serenade to Spring fundraising dinner on May 24 at the Culinary Institute. While the celebrations for the 40th anniversary season may have just ended, the symphony is already hard at work raising funds for next year. The upcoming dinner is an important fundraiser, which will help support another season of concerts.
Symphony Board members and volunteers have been planning an evening filled with great food and entertainment. The evening’s festivities will begin with cocktails at 6 pm. When they first arrive, guests will be treated to a view of the harbour from the lower dining room. There will be time before dinner to enjoy a glass of wine, to mingle with friends, and to look over the silent auction table. This year, silent auction items include theatre tickets, gift certificates, fine, art and treasures from China generously donated by many Island artists, businesses, and symphony supporters.
The chefs at the Culinary Institute will be preparing a special gourmet menu for the dinner that includes Spinach salad, Dijon rosemary encrusted Prime Rib, and an Apple and pear strudel served with cinnamon ice cream. There will be a fish alternate available for those who do not eat meat and this year’s vegan selection includes Spicy Lentil Soup and Pad Thai (please make your entree preference and any food allergies known when buying your tickets).
Throughout the evening there will be performances by the Singing Strings and the evening will end with a live auction. Tickets are $75.00, which includes a 40.00 tax receipt. Symphony supporters who missed their chance to get a copy of the commemorative book, The Prince Edward Island Symphony at 40: Forty years of growth and development, will be able to buy copies at the dinner. For tickets or information call Heather Doran at 626-3864.
