COMMUNITY
A competition sponsored by the PEI Hairdressers Association will take place for its fifth year on May 5. Students from three schools, West Isle Intermediate, Hair Concepts in Summerside and the Private Institute of Hair Design in Charlottetown, will be competing for a cash prize and the opportunity to compete in a Maritime-wide event.
Using an international point system three volunteer judges (one at each school), under the supervision of Master Judge Joan Waite will assess the contestants in the total look of their presentations. This includes the hair, make-up and dress—the total look—of the models that they have been working on. This daylong event concludes when the contestants and their creations arrive at the Rodd Royalty Inn, do their last minute touch-ups, and undergo the final judging. This part of the competition, from 5 to 6:30 is open to the public. And of course, friends, fellow-students and family are expected to attend to cheer on their favourites. There is no charge for admission.
