Moonshiners Northumberland Strait Swim
August 26

The 2nd Annual Moonshiners Northumberland Strait Swim from Cape Jourimain, New Brunswick to Borden-Carleton, Prince Edward Island will take place on Saturday, August 26. The idea was hatched after former Summerside resident, Logan Hayman, took a $50 bet that he couldn’t swim the Northumberland Strait. Hayman, now living in Vancouver, enlisted the help of childhood friends Charlie Schurman and Bryan Cameron to help him with the swim. From the swim idea, came the thought of using the event to help raise funds and awareness for Generation XX in Summerside, as all three are former members. Generation XX is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and has plans to expand the Club to house an indoor bowl for skateboarders. The Moonshiners Swim will also feature a “Swashbucklers Social” at the Summerside Legion on the evening of August 26. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the entertainment and hear more information about the upcoming project for Generation XX. Hayman, Schurman, and Cameron are looking to grow the annual event with the hope of attracting swimmers who travel the world attempting various bodies of water, to come to Prince Edward Island to swim the Northumberland Strait. Info/register: www.moonshinerswim.com
