| The Blueprints: Mike Robicheau, Chris Roumbanis, Roger Greaves |
Island blues band, The Blueprints, are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a party May 3 at Baba’s Lounge on University Avenue in Charlottetown.
It was April 1998, when guitarist Steve Love decided he wanted to start a blues band. He picked up the phone and called Tony Argent, Doug Bridges, and Chris Roumbanis. They thought it was a great idea. Doug came up with the name for the band while John Bulman provided the rehearsal space. Ten years later, with a few personnel changes, The Blueprints are still going strong.
The current line-up includes Roger Greaves on drums, Mike Robicheau on guitar and vocals, and Chris Roumbanis on bass and vocals. Their debut recording Blues With A Feeling won the Music PEI Award for the best jazz/blues recording of 2007 and was nominated for an ECMA in 2007. They have performed at just about every venue there is on PEI and on concert stages off Island as well, with such blues legends as Buddy Guy & James Cotton.
Says Chris Roumbanis. “We have the band Charlie X coming in to warm up the crowd. Then The Blueprints will perform with James Cecil sitting in on keyboards & harmonica. We have also invited former bandmates and friends for an all-star blues jam finale.
The night will get started around 10 pm, May 3 at Baba’s Lounge. Admission at the door. Visit The Blueprints line at www.theblueprintspei.com. For information call 902-892-7377.
