The ultimate celebration of the Singing Strings’ 30th anniversary will be the Gala Ball to be held at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottetown on May 16. The evening will start with cocktails and hors d’oeuveres to the music of the Singing Strings. Susan and Jack Lessard will demonstrate the waltz, and a 40-piece ballroom orchestra under the baton of Brian Ellard will provide music for dancing. Brian was conductor and music director of the PEI Symphony for seventeen years. Many of the musicians at this event will be performing as a tribute to their former maestro.
Also on the program is a silent auction and the up-beat music of the PEI Regimental Dance Band directed by Frank McKearney.
The Gala Ball is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Singing Strings and the proceeds will help finance the Orchestra’s participation in the 10th International Youth Orchestra Festival in Florence, Italy in July.
