    Cancer Bats
    BIS - May 5, 6:30 pm (doors)
After performances at this year’s SXSW and mini-tours with Comeback Kid and Reign Supreme in the US, the Cancer Bats return to Eastern Canada to celebrate the release of their new album Hail Destroyer.
The band originated in May of 2004 with singer Liam Cormier and guitarist Scott Middleton, former member of Toronto metal band At The Mercy Of Inspiration. The two wanted to form a project that combined their favorite parts of bands like Refused, Black Flag, Led Zeppelin and Down, among others. The line-up was rounded out with the addition of Andrew McCracken on bass and Mike Peters on drums. The Cancer Bats exploded onto the hardcore, punk rock music scene with the release of their album Birthing the Giant in 2006. The band picked up awards for the Metal/Hardcore Group of the Year at the 2007 Indie Awards and Best Independent Video at the 2007 MMVA’s. Also on the bill are Black Lungs, A Textbook Tragedy, and Iron Giant. All Ages. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets at CD Plus, www.ticketpro.ca, 1-888-311-9090. www.cancerbats.com.

    Holly Springs Disaster
    BIS - May 26, 6:30 pm (doors)
The Holly Springs Disaster with Threat Signal and others TBA will play at The Benevolent Irish Society Hall in Charlottetown on May 26. Tickets are available at the door at 6:30 pm.
In 2006 The Holly Springs Disaster took what they knew and went with it. Now this quintet have taken their unrelenting aural and visual assault across Canada multiple times. While 2006 saw the boys on the road for most of the year, February 2007 was spent with Zach Ohren (All Shall Perish, Set Your Goals, Animosity) recording their debut album. Aptly titled Motion Sickness Love, the album is described by the band’s press as “ruthless and barbaric as their live show.” Set for a late summer release, Motion Sickness Love will see its share of the road as the boys are readying themselves for a summer of incessant touring and blowing the minds of both old and new fans.
