The Murray Harbour Drama Club and Friends are presenting their spring production One Toe in the Grave May 2 and 3 at the Murray Harbour Community Centre. The play, by Jack Sharkey, has been in rehearsal over the past few months with director Diana MacKay attending to the finishing touches.
One Toe in the Grave is the story of Jason Kingsly (Greg Henley)who is the treasurer for a billion-dollar patent medicine corporation that requires its officers to be married. Jason claims his wife has a rare disease that prevents her from entertaining or attending corporate functions. A cure is accidentally discovered in one of the companies medicines, and Jason’s boss, Thorton Murdock (Linda Osbourne) is arriving with the company doctor, Doug Proctor ( Gary Sculley) to administer the cure. Jason doesn’t really have a wife, so cons his fiancee Monica (Linda Stewart) into pretending to be an invalid. Other imposters appear: Poopsie Magruder ( Rachel Harris) and Vonga the Jungle Girl ( Jillian Avender) who was pressed into service by the helpful and sarcastic housekeeper, Naomi (Verna Osbourne). The complications that arise are hillarous. This show promiawa have you in stitches with laughter.
