Prince of Wales College Reunion 2014

On July 26 there will be a Prince of Wales (PWC) reunion at the newly named Prince of Wales Campus at Holland College on Grafton Street in Charlottetown. The following day the annual PWC alumni luncheon will be held at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI).

School Calendar Changes

Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Alan McIsaac announced a new school calendar for the 2014-2015 school year, as part of a series of initiatives to support student achievement. The restructured calendar includes 2 more school days, no change in instructional days, fewer short weeks, and additional days for embedded professional learning.

Recycled Book Exhibition

Colonel Gray students have spent several weeks of the new semester taking old and unwanted books, and recreating them into notebooks. The majority of these books have been donated by The Bookman and currently are on display there at 177 Queen St, Charlottetown.

Water Safety Day Camps

Water Safety Day camps are held for children 5–13 yrs Island-wide. This Island summer tradition offers fun, adventure, healthy recreation and skills to keep our children safe in or near the water. Register/info: Canadian Red Cross, 62 Prince St, Charlottetown call 628-6262, or see redcrossca/pei.

March Break Youth Activity

A March Break Youth Activity Drop-in Program will be held in the mornings the week of March 17–21 for children in kindergarten to Grade 6 at the Hillsborough Park Community Centre. The program includes lunch and refreshments. Pre-registration is not required, however children must be signed in each day by a parent or legal guardian.

Vital Statistics Website

A new Vital Statistics website serves as a focal point for people who are looking to apply for services such as birth, marriage and death certificates. Info on how to access these services is provided as well as answers to the public’s most frequent questions on vital event registrations.

Island Rock Summer Camps

A rock camp will take place in Charlottetown this summer for musicians ages 9–15. Camp will be held at Spring Park Elementary school on August 4–8. Sharing a Love of Nature

Sharing a Love of Nature is back at Macphail Woods. Children can join in a week outdoors, bird watching, tracking, making art, playing games, observing insects and getting wet and dirty. The 2014 schedule is:

June 30–July 4 Becoming a Naturalist for ages 7–9;
July 7–11 Introduction to Bushcraft for ages 12–14;
July 14–18 Young Ecologists for ages 10–12;
July 21–25 Nature Discovery for ages 5-6;
