Victoria Playhouse 31st Season
Opening with On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson

The Victoria Playhouse has announced its 31st season which launches June 30 with the classic comedy/drama On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson. The triple Academy Award-winning film version released in 1981 starred Henry Fonda, Katherine Hepburn and Jane Fonda. The original play had its Broadway debut in 1979 at the New Apollo Theatre.

Actors Announced for Montgomery Theatre

Season 2012: The Thrill of Intimacy” runs June 5 to September 9 at Montgomery Theatre in North Rustico. On the bill are three productions: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen with a fresh new adaptation by Duncan McIntosh; Travels With My Aunt by Graham Greene and Our Town by Thornton Wilder.

Since Harbourfront Theatre’s announcement about not producing Anne & Gilbert this summer, Kieran Keller, General Manager for Harbourfront Theatre, has received mixed reactions. New Anne & Gilberts in Canada

Anne & Gilbert will be appearing on four new stages this year. The PEI office that licenses productions for the musical has confirmed new productions for New Brunswick, Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia in 2012.

Harbourfront Upgrades

The Government of Canada, through ACOA, has invested $58,588 to support the upgrades to upgrades for the Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside. These upgrades include a wireless microphone system, building of a network system and the purchase of new backline equipment. The Harbourfront Theatre is a multi-purpose theatre which has been operating  for 16 years.

Young Company to Perform Les Feux Follets

Les Feux Follets returns to The Charlottetown Festival on the dancing feet of the 2012 Confederation Centre Young Company. The show will open July 1 at the Confederation Centre’s outdoor amphitheatre, and play at noon daily, Mondays through Saturdays to August 19. Admission is free.

Ring of Fire and Kitchen Witches are new; Anne and Come-All-Ye are back

The Charlottetown Festival runs June to September at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

One of this season’s new shows pays tribute to the legendary man in black with, Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash. It plays selected dates June 20 to September 29 in the Homburg Theatre.
