Select Sundays beginning January 21
Trinity United Church, Summerside

Wildwood band (l–r): Gail Mullen, Dylan Ferguson, Serge Bernard, Janet McGarry and Denise MacLeod. (photo: submitted)A winter concert-ceilidh series will kick off at Trinity United Church, 90 Spring Street in Summerside on Sunday, January 21 at 2 pm. The concerts will be held on the third Sunday of each month to May. In the event of a storm, the concert will be held the following Sunday at the same time.

The concert on January 21 will feature Janet McGarry and Serge Bernard who have performed for many years at bluegrass festivals and many other events throughout Eastern Canada and beyond. Their unique vocals make them crowd favourites wherever they appear. Janet is a five time Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Award winner for "Female Vocalist of the Year." She is a proud "Daughter of Bluegrass"—a group of international leading women in bluegrass. Janet released her 12th album, Forever is the Love, in the summer of 2017. Janet will be joined by the members of Wildwood: Serge Bernard on guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmony vocals; Dylan Ferguson on guitar and vocals; Denise MacLeod of fiddle and vocals; and Gail Mullen on upright bass and vocals. Just this past October, they picked up the award for "Gospel Performance of the Year" at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards.

Eddy Quinn and Fiddlers' Sons with Keelin Wedge are set to play on February 18 from 2–4 pm. This will be the award winning folk music group's first time back to Summerside since appearing before a sold out crowd at The Harbourfront Theatre last summer. Fiddlers' Sons features: singer-songwriter Eddy Quinn on lead vocals, guitar and fiddle; multi-instrumentalist Keelin Wedge on vocals, guitar, fiddle and bass; singer-songwriter John B Webster on vocals and guitar; and musical veterinarian Courtney Hogan-Chandler on fiddle. The group will showcase tunes, stories and songs from their recently released album Fiddlers' Sons The Best Of Twenty Years. There will be copies of the new CD along with Eddy Quinn's book Island Characters available for sale. Admission at the door.

Upcoming featured performers include: Blu Gillis, comedy act "Sara & Annie" by Wanda Dunbar and Ruth Smallman, Not All There Band and others tba (March 18); Bluestreak (April 15); and Roy McCaull, Marcella Richard and Larry Campbell (May 20).
