The Charlottetown Film Society screening at City Cinema

January 21
City Cinema

Director Michael MelskiA special screening of award-winning Nova Scotia filmmaker, Michael Melski’s latest feature film, The Child Remains, is planned for January 21 at 2 pm at City Cinema, Charlottetown. The film was selected as one of five to be presented at the Charlottetown Film Society’s Popup Festival celebrating Telefilm Canada’s 50th Anniversary.

The story is inspired by the infamous Canadian maternity home whose owners were responsible for the murders of countless children, otherwise known as the “butterbox babies.” The Child Remains was filmed entirely in Nova Scotia starring Suzanne Clément (Mommy), and Allan Hawko (Love and Savagery) with a guest appearance by Martha Irving. The film’s creator, Michael Melski will be on hand on January 21 to interact with the audience.

One of the The Charlottetown Film Society’s purposes is to act as a vital contributor to Prince Edward Island’s film culture by offering regular presentations of significant and diverse cinematic works to the community. Thank you to the PEI Community Cultural Partnership Program for their sponsorship.

Tickets are available at Eventbrite (no fee) or cash at the door www.eventbrite.com. For information, see listings for City Cinema for the month of January in this edition, www.citycinema.net or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
