May 23
PEI Convention Cenre

Ian HanomansingJunior Acheivement Prince Edward Island has announced that Ian Hanomansing, host of CBC’s The National, will act as narrator for the 2018 Business Hall of Fame Gala. CBC’s Compass host, Louise Martin, will act as host for the evening’s festivities as four outstanding business leaders are recognized.

The JA PEI Business Hall of Fame was established in 1998 by JA PEI to provide a link between the province’s economic heritage and the promise of a prosperous future by honouring key Island business leaders. The awards gala raises funds to support JA’s business and economic education programs that will reach more than 5,500 Island students this year in schools across the province.

Jason Aspin (Entrepreneur in the PEI Technology and Marine Industries), Michael F. Cassidy (Excellence in Business and Community Leadership), and Rita & Angus MacCormack (Entrepreneurs in the PEI Real Estate and Construction Industry) will be inducted in to the 2018 Business Hall of Fame at a Gala Dinner on May 23 at the Prince Edward Island Convention Centre at the Delta Hotels by Marriot — Prince Edward.

Tickets are on sale from members of the Board of Governors or by contacting the JA office at 902-892-6066 or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Ian Hanomansing hosts The National, alongside Adrienne Arsenault, Rosemary Barton and Andrew Chang. Born in Trinidad and raised in Sackville, New Brunswick, veteran host and reporter Ian Hanomansing began his broadcasting career at CKDH Radio in Amherst, Nova Scotia, working at radio stations in Moncton and Halifax before joining CBC in Halifax in 1986. His assignments took him to Toronto the following year and eventually to Vancouver, where he was a national reporter for fourteen years.

In August 2017, Louise brought her journalistic skills to PEI, where she is closer to family in the Maritimes with her brother and his family living in Nova Scotia and extended family on PEI. Louise comes to PEI with vast experience in broadcast journalism — having hosted and produced hourly and breaking news updates on the CBC News Network. Before that, she was host and producer covering business and economic news for CBC News Network.
