Marcella RichardThe Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel will present its 9th annual Grand Ruisseau Song Festival September 28–30. All public events will be held at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall, 5786 Route 11, across from the Our-Lady-of-Mont-Carmel church.

Numerous concerts and workshops will take place throughout the weekend. Two free choral workshops for adults will take place throughout the weekend—the first on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm and the second on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 pm. The Opening Concert will feature youth entertainment and it will be held on September 28, at 7 pm. The evening will be devoted to young emerging musicians. Performers will be students from École Évangéline who will be going on a trip to Europe in March 2019. Donation will be accepted to help pay some of the expenses of their trip to Europe.

On September 29, the evening will start with a Songwriters’ Circle at 8 pm. Participants will be Albert Arsenault from St. Gilbert, Gary Gallant from St. Timothy and Didier Turbide from the Magdalen Islands. Following the Songwriter’s Circle, there will be a dance for adults (19+) starting at 9 pm with the group Deux gorgées featuring Allan Gallant, Marcel Caissie, Vincent Bouchard and Pierre Poirier. 

A variety of artists will perform during the Closing Concert on Sunday September 30 at 7 pm. The choir l’Air du temps, under the direction of Lucille Petitpas, featuring 56 singers from various villages in the Magdalen Islands will perform. Furthermore, participants from the choral workshop taking place on Saturday and Sunday will also perform a few songs during this concert. Lastly, Marcella Richard and Patricia Richard will take the stage alongside some of their family members and friends including their mom Léonie Richard, Patricia’s son Julien Robichaud as well as their cousin Rémi Arsenault and family friend Caroline Bernard.
