Berni Wood wins for Commerical Industrial Photography
Charlottetown professional photographer, Berni Wood, MPA, won the Best in Class Award for Commercial Industrial Photography at the 2017 National Image Salon Competition recently in Ottawa. The Awards were held during the International Photography Conference hosted by the Professional Photographers of Canada.
The winning entry “Laying the Power Cable” was photographed during a commissioned shoot by Maritime Electric Ltd in November of 2016 while the new power cable was being installed under the Confederation Bridge.
A panel of master photographers judged the best works submitted by professional photographers from across Canada and only accepted outstanding images into the 2017 National Image Salon. “Photographers must show extraordinary talent to win an award among such illustrious company,” said Charles van den Ouden, MPA, Chair of the National Exhibition Committee.
Berni was also presented with two nominations in the 10th Annual International Color Awards, in two different categories including “People” and “Wildlife”. Her works were selected from 6,178 entries that were received from 75 countries this year.
Said the Awards Creative Director, “Berni Wood’s ‘Mi’kmaq Dancing Queen’ photographed during a Parks Canada photo shoot in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island is an exceptional image entered in the People category and ‘Family Baby Protection’, was photographed in Barbados where blue monkeys are plentiful. Both images represent contemporary color photography at its finest, and we’re pleased to present her with the two nominee titles.”
