Julianna Wigmore and Norah Pendergast collaborate
Dissonance is a collaborative exhibition mounted by Julianna Wigmore and Norah Pendergast, in conjunction with this town is small at The Wall Portrait Gallery, Dawson Lounge, 5th floor, Main Building UPEI in Charlottetown.
The show is an example of confessional art, an intentional revelation of the private self. Spontaneously staged and shot, the stark, almost surreal images and text provide viewers with an opportunity to explore confidential and controversial experiences and emotions.
Juliana Wigmore earned a diploma in Photography from Holland College in 2000 and currently operates Spark & Whimsy Photography. Norah Pendergast is a multidisciplinary artist and teacher.
The exhibition is explored in an accompanying essay, written by Natalie Pendergast, who has completed her PhD. in Comparative Literature with a focus on representations of self in autobiographical graphic novels.
There will be an artist talk scheduled February 15 and the show will hang until the end of March. For more information visit the artists and this town is small online.
