The Small Town Market Gallery at the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market
Katharine Dagg has mounted an exhibition of paintings in collaboration with the Peake Street Collective and this town is small in the The Small Town Market Gallery at the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market.
Since retiring from her pottery business, Stoneware Pottery in Milton, PEI, Katharine has been working fulltime as a painter. Katharine has a BFA in drawing and painting from the University of Manitoba and has worked as an Arts and Crafts Officer for the Government of the Northwest Territories. Katharine moved to PEI in 1974 to teach design at the Hand Craft Training Centre (future Holland College). In 1977 she became a full-time production potter and joint proprietor of Stoneware Pottery with Sandi Mahon.
Katharine has written about her work, “I am mad about colour, there is no room for beige in my life! I’m inspired by nature and the human figure and faces that tell a story. I can be tempted by heady blossoms gossiping over a fence, or luscious fruits and vegetables overflowing in great crockery—abundance, beauty and colour.” Her show will be exhibited in the The Small Town Market Gallery until the end of February.
