Art by Jenni Zelin at the small town Market Gallery
Much like the infamous gathering of live crows in various Charlottetown neighbourhoods and Victoria Park, the crow paintings of Jenni Zelin gather at the small town Market Gallery in Charlottetown. Titled, A Murder, Indeed!, dozens of Zelin’s colourful and whimsical postcard sized works, as well as some larger pieces on canvas, combine crow images with humour, and many with text. The show opens on March 3 and continues through April.
“I wanted to artistically re-create the feeling of the well-known Charlottetown crow phenomenon,” says Zelin of her exhibit. “The Farmers’ Market Gallery is the perfect venue for my murder of crows, as it is a gathering place for so many of us every Saturday morning. I like to think that the crows of Charlottetown are enjoying each others' company much like we do. I hope the show captures the similarity between the socializing crows and humans, and helps people appreciate our crows.”
