Exhibit by Holland College School of Visual Arts students

Graphic Design student Ali McNeill, Video Games Art and Animation student Maggie Campbell, Photography and Digital Imaging student Megan Shea, and Fundamental Arts student Cassandra Aragonez show the image created by Ali McNeill for their upcoming art exhibition.

Students from Holland College’s visual arts programs will be showing off the best of their work during their annual art show at Confederation Centre of the Arts at the beginning of May.

Photography and Digital Imaging, Graphic Design, Video Game Art and Animation, and Fundamental Arts students are looking forward to presenting their work to the public. The theme of this year’s show is “To Gaze is to Think,” a Salvador Dali quote which challenges both the artist and the viewer, Graphic Design instructor April Condon explained.

“The theme invites the viewer to slow down and enjoy the work that the students have created. To take a moment to think about how the work makes them feel. What is the message? In a society where we are bombarded with so many images, it is nice to slow down and think about what the true message of a visual is,” she said.

“At the same time, it’s an invitation for our students to reflect on their work and think about how far they have come during their time at Holland College. The amount of creative growth that happens in a relatively short amount of time is impressive to see, and we look forward to watching them continue to grow as they take the next steps in their creative careers.”

The show opens with a public reception on May 4 from 5 to 7 pm and continues until May 13. The Confederation Centre of the Arts Gallery is open to the public Wednesday to Saturday, 11 am to 5 pm, Sunday 1 to 5 pm. Admission is free.
