Women artists who share a love for design and colour
A textile exhibition will be shown at The Guild May 30 to June 10. This first exhibition by a group of women artists drawn together by a love of rug hooking and a shared interest in design and colour.
They have produced a display of varied pieces. These include rug hooking, quilting, embroidery and appliqué from pocket-sized pieces to full-sized quilts.
The focal point of the exhibition is the design by Susan Dundee which has been executed by each of the artists showing her own interpretation of the piece in a variety of mediums.
The group is comprised of Susan Dundee, Caroline Jenner, Shelagh Lindley, Anne Lockhart, Sandra MacDonald, Joanne McVicker and Valerie Moore.
Works of the members of the group have been displayed in a variety of venues, locally, provincially, nationally and internationally, including the following: The Guild, Charlottetown; PEI Crafts Council Christmas Fair, Charlottetown; Eptek Centre, Summerside; Plum Tree Studio, North Rustico; Stories and Stitches, St Paul’s Church, Charlottetown; Mermaid Gallery, Charlottetown; McGowan School of Rug Hooking, Dudley, USA; Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador; The Rooms, St John’s, Newfoundland; Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia; Rug Hooking Guild of Vermont; Old Home Week, Exhibition, Charlottetown; and Abbotsford Agricultural Fair and Fiberfest, British Columbia.
These artisans are or have been members of: PEI Crafts Council, Charlottetown; Newfoundland and Labrador Craft Council; Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia; Island Matters Rug Hooking Guild, Charlottetown; and Kindred Spirits Quilting Guild.
