Family Doctor Day is May 18 and the College of Family Physicians for Prince Edward Island (CFPPEI) is recognizing some of its best for 2018.
Dr. Charles Duffy has been named the Family Doctor of the Year, the college’s highest honour that recognizes an outstanding family physician who best exemplifies what being a family doctor is all about. The college is also recognizing Dr. Keith Bagalole and Dr. Katherine Bell with its Awards of Excellence.
Family Doctor of the Year recipients are chosen by their peers for providing exceptional care to their patients, making significant contributions to the health and well being of their community and/or society in general, and dedicating themselves to educating future generations of family doctors.
The Awards of Excellence recognizes College of Family Physicians members who in the past 12 to 24 months have made an outstanding contribution in a specific area pertaining to one or more of the following areas: patient care; community service; hospital or health care institution; college activities; teaching; research; or other elements of the academic discipline of family medicine.
The awards will be presented at the Annual Family Medicine Conference in June 15 in Charlottetown. They will also be recognized in November at the National Family Medicine Forum.
