The governments of Canada and PEI are supporting organizations such as the  Festival of Small Halls that attract visitors to the region, extend length of stay and provide economic benefits to local businesses. The festival in Jun features shows in more than 40 rural venues around PEI. The Government of Canada is providing $58,000 in non-repayable assistance for the 2018 event, including $33,000 through ACOA’s Business Development Program and $25,000 through Canadian Heritage’s Canadian Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF). The Government of PEI is providing $60,000 through Innovation PEI. As one of the longest running annual festivals in the region, Small Halls features PEI’s rich Irish, Scottish, Acadian and Indigenous cultural music, dance, storytelling, workshops and children’s shows.
