Presenting sponsor announced

Culture Summerside has announced that The Lobster Fishers of Prince Edward Island Board is the presenting sponsor of the 62nd Summerside Lobster Carnival. The board, made up of lobster fishers from across PEI, promotes and markets Island lobster to the world, while the Carnival, since 1956, has celebrated the role of lobster in Island culture and economy. The lobster fishery employs 8500 people through a sustainable wild fishery by 1280 independent fishers.

Event Chef Robert Pendergast, through his Lobster 101 demonstrations, will create numerous lobster dishes. Many of his creations will pair Island lobster with Island-produced food products. The carnival will also offer two traditional Island lobster suppers.

The Lobster Fishers of Prince Edward Island Board is made up of twelve lobster fishers elected by their peers from the membership of the six local fishermen’s associations. A number of the board members will be on the front lines of the carnival, cracking open those lobsters.
