New guest chefs this year for month-long culinary event
The Fall Flavours Festival returns to PEI, Canada’s Food Island, August 31 to September 30 for a month of culinary experiences. Featuring five new guest chefs and new events, this year’s Festival will be the biggest yet. Sobeys returns as the Festival’s Title Sponsor.
Taste of Coastal Communities events will return with Atlantic Lottery as the presenting sponsor. Three guest chefs who are making a name for themselves on the national scene will make their Festival debut at the Taste of Coastal Communities events. Mallard Cottage’s Chef Todd Perrin will host Taste of Georgetown on September 6. PEI native, known for her Maritime-chic cooking style, Chef Charlotte Langley will host Taste of Tyne Valley on September 20 and a guest chef will host Taste of North Rustico on September 28. Each Taste event will showcase tastes from these PEI communities.
An Evening at Red Shores will feature a five-course dinner and wine pairing experience at the heart of PEI’s harness racing tradition. These VIP events will be hosted at the Top of the Park Restaurant featuring Chef Andrew Smith and Chef Antonio Park on September 12 and Chef Andrew Smith and Chef Dustin Gallagher September 25.
The Festival will welcome back chef hosts including Lynn Crawford, Mark McEwan, Danny Smiles, Corbin Tomaszeski, Chuck Hughes and PEI’s Michael Smith for fourteen Signature Events. Signature Events and Chefs for 2018 are: Le Festin acadien avec homard (Aug 31, Chef Danny Smiles); Toe Taps & Taters (Sep 7, Chef Michael Smith); Oysters on the Pier (Sep 8, Chef Corbin); Lobster Party on the Beach (Sep 9, Chef Mark McEwan); PEI International Shellfish Festival and Feast & Frolic (Sep 13 to 16, Chef Lynn Crawford and Chef Michael Smith); Beef N’ Blues (Sep 14, Chef Michael Smith); Savour Victoria (Sep 21, Chef Chuck Hughes); Chuck & Friends (Sep 23, Chef Chuck Hughes); Surf & Turf, Eastern PEI Style (Sep 22, Chef Lynn Crawford); Great Big BBQ (Sep 26, Chef Corbin); Ultimate Chef’s Table (Sep 27, Chef Corbin); Harbour Feast (Sep 29, Chef Chuck Hughes); Grilling and Chilling (Sep 30, Chef Michael Smith).
New Signature Event Surf & Turf, Eastern PEI-Style on September 22 takes place at Rodd Crowbush Beach Resort. Also new is Charlottetown’s Harbour Feast with Chef Chuck Hughes and the Chef de Cuisine of Montreal’s Garde Manger, Christopher Merrick, on September 29 at Peake’s Quay Restaurant. Chef Chuck Hughes is set to host the Table Culinary Studio September 23 with a meal featuring PEI ingredients, artisan breads and cheeses and foraged delicacies.
