Chef Danny Smiles returns
L’Exposition agricole et le Festival acadien has announced that Food Network’s Chef Danny Smiles will return to the Festin acadien avec homard (Acadian Feast with Lobster) on August 31 at Village musical acadien in Abram-Village.
After completing his studies at St Pius X culinary institute in Montreal, Danny set off for Italy where he interned for Michelin Star chefs in Brescia and Soverato, and then returned to Montreal and began working under Chuck Hughes at Restaurant Le Bremner in Montreal, Quebec. His professional relationships flourished there and he was promoted to Chef de Cuisine in November of 2011.
The Festin acadien avec homard, a signature event of the Fall Flavours Festival, will offer a meal consisting of the traditional Acadian dishes, homemade vegetable soup, rapure and meat pie as well as lobster, potato salad and a cranberry pudding for dessert. Participants will be entertained by music, songs and step dancing. “I’m really excited to go back to this great event! I really enjoyed myself last year,” says Danny.
This feast will be served family-style, where the food will be brought to the tables on trays that will be passed around the table. The servers will be dressed in traditional Acadian costumes and the room will be decorated in the Acadian colors.
