Flavours of Prince Edward Island: A Culinary Journey

Flavours of Prince Edward Island: A Culinary Journey
Austin Clement, Jeff McCourt, Allan Williams

Then I began driving up the long red clay lanes that lead to our farms, waded into the surf with an oyster rake, spotted golden chanterelles in the woods and downed shots of rum on the deck of a lobster boat at sea. Gradually, it dawned on me that food is at its best when we taste its flavours and its stories.”—Chef Michael Smith

Now you can bring the

Over the last number of years, Prince Edward Island has become well known across North America as a culinary destination. Thanks to a concerted effort by Island restauranteurs, food producers, writers and government our little province has made quite a name for itself as a place where the food is fresh, delicious, and prepared with care. Most of the focus of

In Line for Chinese

I’m Dining Out Here
by Andrew Sprague

A couple of weeks ago I had a rare, but excellent opportunity to dust off my drinking shoes and hit the town. A good buddy was without family for the first time in months and it was decided that a night out would be an appropriate course of action. Drinks at the house would be followed by drinks at a bar. As it turned out a few other friends were interested in

Sushiphile

I’m Dining Out Here
by Andrew Sprague

I love sushi. But it’s a tough romance to endure in Charlottetown. Until very recently the options for sushi on the Island have been limited. Really, there were only two choices: Monsoon Tea House on University Avenue, which limits its hours of operation and is often closed for long stretches; or sushi from the grocery store, which for me is generally

Citizens Rejoice

I’m Dining Out Here
by Andrew Sprague

For the last few years Montague has been a bit of a void when it comes to restaurant dining. In fact, I can’t say for sure there’s a restaurant open year round aside from the Pizza Delight and The Dynasty (a Chinese restaurant for those not familiar). So to say there’s little to offer someone looking for a good, chef-prepared meal in February is almost an

I Can’t Believe It

I’m Dining Out Here
by Andrew Sprague

I was thinking the other day about all the places I’ve written about over the years. Naturally, that led me to think about all the places I haven’t written about, and the reasons why. After much consideration, I’ve come to certain conclusions about both the restaurants and the reasons. So this month I present my first ever “I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Written
