The Vessel opens with show by Calm Baretta
Cozy Concert Series will launch February 17 at The Vessel at 171 Great George Street, Charlottetown.
The Vessel, an artist-focused space providing affordable studio space for local artists, will host the series. The audience of the cozy concert series is limited to 25 to 30 people, and takes place within the artist studios from 8 to 9 pm.
Focusing on the acoustic, paired down, creative bones of the music, the series will offer audiences local talent and artistry. Cozy concerts is launching the series during #winterlove art festival, because, as organizers say, there is nothing better than great art and small audiences on a cold evening in February.
The first band featured in the series is Calm Baretta, formed by Josh Carter (guitar, lead vocals), Laura Oakie (keys, vocals), and Nigel Haan (bass, vocals). Carter describes the band’s sound as delicate, sweet, and subdued, but also having large musical moments that are upbeat and full of energy. “It’s definitely like 80’s pop but with a more modern approach in terms of the vocals. It’s poppy, it’s fun, easy to listen to, it’s summery, dreamy.”
All revenues from ticket sales go directly to the playing artists. Tickets are on sale now at tinyurl.com/cozyconcert. This event is 19+ and the location is not accessible. People with mobility challenges should contact the host.
