Dunromin Band hosts monthly bluegrass at Linkletter Centre

Jim Dickson, Harold Noye, Marnie Noye, John Campbell and Vans Bryant are DunrominDunromin is the host of monthly Jamborees held at the Linkletter Community Centre.

Dunromin is a five-member bluegrass band, featuring guitar, mandolin, dobro, banjo, fiddle and stand up bass. Dunromin began with Vans Bryant and Harold Noye but since that time Marnie Noye, John Campbell, and Jim Dickson have also become members. Their performances provide strong instrumentation, a variety of vocal voices and tight harmonies in various styles of music. Interjections of humour add to the rapport Dunromin has with its audiences.

The idea of hosting a monthly Jamboree came about because Dunromin felt that there were limited opportunities in the Summerside area for people to enjoy down home music, especially during the winter months. They took the initiative to organize a monthly Jamboree in partnership with the Linkletter Community Centre. This building is at 1670 Route 11, Linkletter, a central, welcoming, attractive and wheelchair accessible venue.

Dunromin began these Thursday Jamborees in November 2017 and they are held on the fourth Thursday of every month starting at 7 pm. The format is always the same—a set with Dunromin, a short break for refreshments and chatting and an open mic time with the musicians in the Dunromin Band providing back-up. This open mic experience is an opportunity for singers, instrumentalists, dancers, storytellers, etc, to entertain.

The next Jamborees are February 22 and March 22. Info: Marnie Noye, 902-436-8833.
