Andrew MacCormack film selected for enRoute Film Festival
Prince Edward Island born filmmaker Andrew MacCormack’s latest short film Here and Away will be playing on all Air Canada flights worldwide during the month of November 2013 as a part of the enRoute Film Festival.
MacCormack, who is now a freelance filmmaker in Halifax, shot half of the story on PEI and the other half in Shanghai, China. The film is co-written by Island author David Weale.
Here and Away shows us two very different parts of the world, with two people explaining why their home is the best place to live and how they are attached to it. The story is brought together through the voice of young girl living Shanghai and an old man living on PEI, played by the late Tommy Gallant of North Rustico.
“After spending a lot of my early twenties traveling around the world, I read a story by David Weale about a man who never left Prince Edward Island. I then thought of the millions and of people who live in big cities throughout world, who never leave their city or home and found the contrast and similarities of this idea would make an great short film.”
Here and Away has screened at festivals internationally and has won several awards in the process. MacCormack also just directed the TV series “Cubicle to the Cage” which now airs on Radx and is working as a cinematographer and editor on several other films.
