Island filmmaker John Hopkins continues to rack up accolades for his work by winning the prestigious Best Atlantic Filmmaker Award recently at Lunenburg DocFest in Lunenburg Nova Scotia for his new NFB produced feature documentary BLUEFIN.
John Hopkins says, “Wow, this is amazing. BLUEFIN has sold out at both Atlantic Film Festival and Lunenburg DocFest! Many feel the doc is an emotional and important film. They love this documentary because it does not tell you what to think, and allows a dynamic range of views to be aired on a very controversial subject.”
Five years in the making, BLUEFIN follows on the heels of recent groundbreaking docs on “ocean wildlife” such as Blackfish, The Cove, and Sharkwater
Director Hopkins also served as Director of Photography for the full length documentary film and owns Square Deal Productions Inc.
BLUEFIN unspools next at the Charlottetown Film Festival, City Cinema, October 30 at 7 pm. In November BLUEFIN screens at the Devour! Food and Film Festival, November 2 to 6, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
Based in PEI, Square Deal Productions Inc. specializes in producing documentaries and co-pros for Canadian and international markets, as well cinematography, editing, and TV commercials.
