At the beginning of September, actors should look for a casting call to be part of a unique in Canada video series aimed to help recognize signs of family violence in everyday settings—and to take action to safely intervene.
There will be up to twenty on-screen speaking roles for male, female, and non-binary actors of a variety of ages, abilities, and backgrounds. For those successfully cast, payment will be by honorarium.
Filmed in Charlottetown businesses, with the City of Charlottetown as the lead project sponsor, The “Make It Your Business” video series will be designed for use in workplace training and also be promoted to the general public. It will emphasize small, straightforward actions people can take in everyday life to notice and to help when they see signs of possible family violence. The project plan and scripts have been developed by the City of Charlottetown’s Mayor’s Purple Ribbon Task Force on Family Violence Prevention. Videos will be shot by Mugisha Enterprises.
In-person auditions, to be recorded on video, will take place in September for filming in October.
Full casting notice is available through PEI Family Violence Prevention Services Website fvps.ca/category/news/, facebook.com/PEIFVPS, or call 902-894-3354, ext 221. Opportunities to sponsor or donate to this project are still available.
