The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) has launched its annual high school video contest. With a theme of Focus on Safety, PEI high school students are encouraged to produce a two-minute video on workplace safety for a chance to win $1,000 and another $1,000 for their school. The video contest is part of a nation-wide initiative of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). The PEI winning entry will be entered in the national contest in April.
The WCB also encourages graduating high school students to consider applying for the Safety Matters Award. This $500 award is awarded annually to a student who has demonstrated an understanding of occupational health and safety principles, and has taken the initiative to apply them in school or at their workplace.
Video submissions will be accepted to March 30. For information, rules and contest entry forms, visit wcb.pe.ca/workplace/contest.
Safety Matters Award applications are due by May 1, with information at www.wcb.pe.ca/Workplace/YoungWorkers.
