Filmmakers conference and pitch competition
Women in Film and Television—Atlantic will host this year’s Women Making Wave conference the weekend of March 8 and 9, 2019.
Every year, a contingency of Island filmmakers make their way to Halifax to attend Women Making Waves and join industry representatives from across Atlantic Canada in networking and learning opportunities.
This year, some of the presenters are Amy Belling who will be offering a masterclass on cinematography and Karen Walton, writer of the original indie horror film Ginger Snaps and a long list of writing and producing credits for shows such as The Listener, Flashpoint, and Orphan Black who will be facilitating a masterclass on writing for the screen.
Not least on the schedule is a pitch competition for a $5000 prize toward a short film, and details are available on the WIFT-AT website www.wift-at.com. The deadline for submissions to the competition is February 15, 2019.
Much more is being planned for the two-day event and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Women’s Day in an exciting nurturing environment.
A complete schedule of masterclasses and panels as well as social activities are listed at wift-at.com.
