Once the Hunter River United Church, this 1846 building has been lovingly renovated into the performance theatre it is today by its visionary owners Melanie and Kris Taylor. With a background in public relations, Melanie took on the job of planning activities and programming, as well as promotions, while Kris an engineer by trade, a musician by choice- was responsible for coordination renovations, as well taking on the role of sound technician.
With their weekly winter pub nights running from January to April, the Taylors contribute significantly to social and cultural life of their community, and of the Island. With a shared passion for music the two dove into the challenge of revitalizing a historic site. Without looking back the Taylors have created a welcoming environment perfect for live music a fact that is not missed by the local industry.
Harmony House is nominated for ECMA Venue of the Year.
