Rory accepts the awardPARC (Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre) has announced that Rory Starkman is the winner of its first annual award for Best Original Play by a PEI playwright at the Island Fringe Festival.

Rory’s first play, Just The Way It Is, a semi-autobiographical show about one person’s journey to discovering themselves outside of the gender binary, had its world premiere at the 2017 festival.

Rory is a non-binary trans-identified actor, director, and playwright. Rory has been involved with theatre from a young age, but more recently have been actively involved with Vagabond Productions at UPEI, ACT (A Community Theatre), and 4 years of the Island Fringe Festival. 

An excerpt from Just The Way It Is will be read at the PARC Playwrights’ Cabaret on October 12, 7 pm at Upstreet Brewery, 41 Allen Street, Charlottetown.
