ACT (a community theatre) has announced a family musical, Rainbow Valley, based on the novel by L. M. Montgomery and adapted for stage by Hank Stinson, will be presented in November. The Guild in Charlottetown will be the venue for eight performances November 8, 9, 10 and November 15, 16, 17.
Hank Stinson, who will also direct the production, has adapted the novel for stage with care and sensitivity to L. M. Montgomery’s style. “There are many stories in Rainbow Valley. I’ve decided to focus this play on the story of the new minister, his ‘wild as the hills’ children, and the people they encounter in a small PEI community where the past rules the present.
The musical score was composed by Dean Burry and arranged for 5 piece ensemble by Natalie Williams-Calhoun.
Shows begin at 7:30 pm for evening performances and at 2 pm for the Saturday afternoon matinees. Tickets will soon be available online at www.TicketPro.ca or in person at The Guild. A special family package is available for the matinee performances by contacting the Guild box office.
