The British Columbian author was born in Kitamaat and is a member of the Haisla and Heiltsuk First Nations. Robinson received an MFA from the University of British Columbia. Her books include: Traplines (1995), winner of Britain’s Winifred Holtby Memorial Prize; Monkey Beach (2000), which was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the Governor General’s Literary Award, and received the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize; Blood Sports (2006) and Son of a Trickster (2017), which was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize.
