The PEI Public Library Service is partnering with The Bookmark in Charlottetown for a new annual literary event. Book Love PEI will be an author focused event to celebrate the work of a selected author and get Islanders excited about reading.
The new program will be launched with Canadian author Eden Robinson on November 1 at 7 pm in Memorial Hall at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown.
The British Columbian author was born in Kitamaat and is a member of the Haisla and Heiltsuk First Nations. Robinson received an MFA from the University of British Columbia. Her books include: Traplines (1995), winner of Britain’s Winifred Holtby Memorial Prize; Monkey Beach (2000), which was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the Governor General’s Literary Award, and received the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize; Blood Sports (2006) and Son of a Trickster (2017), which was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize.
