November 26
St Paul's Church

Sarah HagenClassical pianist Sarah Hagen will be presenting a solo recital in Charlottetown on November 26 at 2:30 pm. The performance will be 75 minutes long without intermission and will take place at St Paul’s Church, 101 Prince Street, Charlottetown. Admission is pay-what-you-will at the door.

Originally from Vancouver Island, and now making her home in Charlottetown, Hagen has joined the Department of Music in the Faculty of Arts at UPEI. Hagen’s extensive touring has taken her from Tofino, BC to Goose Bay, Labrador and across the pond to Sweden, France, Germany and Italy. As a First Prize Winner in the 2013 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, she was awarded the opportunity to perform solo at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Awarded as the British Columbia Touring Council’s 2015 Touring Artist of the Year, and mentioned by The Guardian (Charlottetown) as the Best Classical Performance of 2014, her interpretations have been described as “outstandingly inventive” (University of Waterloo Gazette), ”played flawlessly” (ReviewVancouver) and “with great sensitivity and heart.”(Vernon Morning Star).

Hagen recently performed at the Island Fringe Festival in August, bringing to the stage her one woman musical comedy show Perk up, pianist!. In addition to writing wine reviews for her blog, “ARTIST WINES!—Uncorking musician-priced cellar secrets,” she is an enthusiastic tap dancer.
