A group of parents on PEI have decided to explore their concern about avoidable injuries, particularly concussion, in children and youth playing hockey. They have developed a survey for parents to complete.
The goal of the group and survey is to gather information about the kinds of experiences and concerns parents have about player safety, and what can be done to improve safety.
Dr. McKenna, who assisted in the development of the survey, noted that reaching parents who have children playing hockey was the biggest challenge the group faced.
The survey is being distributed by email and personal contact. The group hopes that everyone who receives the survey will take the 3 minutes to complete it, and then forward it to those in their social network who have kids playing hockey.
