Veg PEI will host Veg It Up PEI from September 22 to 30, a nine-day culinary challenge celebrating PEI’s harvest and showcasing the possibilities of gourmet, plant-based dining on Prince Edward Island.

Island chefs are being challenged to create a completely vegan dish to be sold at various restaurants and cafés across PEI. That means a delicious, nutritionally balanced plate—but with no meat, dairy, eggs, honey or any other animal products. And the emphasis is on the delicious.

Participating restaurants will be announced all month long on the Veg It Up PEI Facebook page. And then from September 22 to the 30, the public is encouraged to head out across the Island and taste what chefs can do.  Choose your favourite dishes—and then go to the website and vote.

If your restaurant or café would like to join, it’s still not too late. If you’re a chef who’d like to show Islanders what you can do with the seasonal produce of our province, contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
