Taquila, one of the top Atlantic Canadian rock groups of the 1980s, is reuniting for a weekend show September 29 and 30 at John Brown on Victoria Row in Charlottetown. Featuring members Jeff Morris (guitar and lead vocals), Ron Huestis (keyboards), Jimmy Gallant (drums and vocals) and founding member Russell Kerr (bass), the group hit its stride in the early mid 80s selling out shows at universities, clubs, and concert venues throughout Upper Canada and the Maritimes. Renowned for their dynamic stage presence, world-class sound and lights, and cutting edge original and cover songs, it was always a memorable event to see Taquila in concert.

Riding the new wave sound, in 1983 Taquila toured Ontario and, along with co-writer and band alum Steve Coady, recorded their debut EP at Evolution 2000 Studios in Toronto, produced by Pat Riley. The new recording gave the band opportunities to perform in concert with Bryan Adams, Chilliwack, and Harlequin. The 80s were an exciting time for Taquila.

For the shows at John Brown Grille, Taquila will be joined by veteran keyboardist-vocalist Darren Ings. Band members say that they are excited to be performing again, and that fans should expect the same entertaining and polished show they remember from.

“We are beyond excited at the John Brown Grille to host this once-in-a-blue-moon reunion of classic Island rock stars,” says John Brown owner Steve Barber. “The night will entail stories and laughs from days gone by. We are excited to listen to one of the top bands of 80s as they make us boogie like we were young again!”
