The annual Old Home Week festivities take place August 9 to 18 hosted on the grounds of the Eastlink Centre & Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park at 46 Kensington Road in Charlottetown, PEI.
Old Home Week was built on the celebration of Island agriculture. Take in the Experience Stage with cooking demos and sessions on many different topics. Learn more about the quality food produced here on PEI and where you can buy it fresh from the farm gate at the Celebrate Agriculture Exhibit. .
Competitors and exhibitors from across the Maritimes come to Old Home Week every year to take part in the elite livestock and equine competitions.
There are activities for kids with Campbell Amusement Rides, The Domino Man, Indigo Circus, Bubble Wonders, Murray Hatfield, Master of Magic and Comedy, and the Kid’s Pedal Tractor Pull.
The fastest horses and the best drivers in all of Eastern Canada converge at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre for 16 racing programs in 10 days.
The Gold Cup & Saucer dates back to the early 1960s, and has become known as one of the most prestigious races in horse racing. The Gold Cup Parade is held on the last Friday morning before the big race.
One of Canada’s longest running youth organizations for young people is 4-H. Take in their demos and exhibitions of their work.
Old Home Week showcases a talented group of Island artists with their Sounds of the Island line up each evening beginning at 7:30 pm. The series is programmed and hosted by Island singer-songwriter and author Eddy Quinn of the band Fiddlers' Sons. Sounds Of The Island features top shelf talent from the Island's roots music scene and boasts several East Coast Music Award winners and nominees, Music PEI Award winners and nominees, veteran Island recording artists and up and coming young performers.
