Starring Tara MacLean | Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings
With her show Atlantic Blue, PEI born singer-songwriter, Tara MacLean, takes you on a journey into the past, telling the story of how music arrived and thrived on the East Coast of Canada.
Atlantic Blue is about the place and the people behind classic songs like Sonny’s Dream, Put Your Hand in the Hand, Fare Thee Well Love, Movin’ on, Working Man, and many more, who found a way to create beauty from the challenging experiences in their own lives. It returns to The Guild in Charlottetown for the summer season.
The depth of this show comes from Tara’s own relationship with each of these writers. To ensure historical accuracy, she worked with those living songwriters and the families and representatives of those who are no longer with us.
Using film for the biographies of these writers, and live music to illustrate their work, Tara’s vocals take the audience to a place of understanding and connection with Atlantic Canada and its music. The show features a different guest singer-songwriter each night. Tara notes that she is proud to have a strong French and Indigenous component in the show.
Atlantic Blue is Tara MacLean’s hommage to Canada’s East Coast and to the music that informed the songwriter she became. It’s also an ode to the ocean that brought her ancestors to the red shores of the Island.
