Final dinner | Take out option available

The final edition in the series of dinners to raise the funds for an Afghan refugee couple’s coming to live on PEI. Sayed and Bibi Fazli, the parents of Charlottetown restauranteur Sara Sadat, arrived safely on September 13, after being stranded in Turkey for the last year and a half. The families (Fradshams, Hartleys, Thomsons, Goddards with the Sadats) in the small sponsoring group have been working over almost two years to help make this happen. Through a series of special dinners at Sadat’s Cuisine, with the boost of some generous donations and a raffle of Afghan jewelry by Ann Thurlow, the project is within reach of the full amount required by Immigration Canada to carry the refugees through the first year. The November 3 dinner is expected to push that funding over the top.

The price is $30, and $20 of that sponsors the refugees. Further contributions are welcome, and any donation of $50 or more is eligible for a tax receipt. The sit-down dinner is offered between 5 and 7 pm. Take-away orders can be made for pick-up between 5:00 and 5:30 pm.
