Confederation Centre Plaza

Monday, September 17, 2018, 10:00pm

Bluefin on the plazaThe public is invited to enjoy two outdoor film screenings taking place in downtown Charlottetown all summer long. Presented by Discover Charlottetown and Confederation Centre of the Arts, Signatures: A Canadian Spectacle Under the Stars and Projections on the Plaza will run nightly, Monday to Saturday, until the end of September and are free to the public.

Returning after a successful debut as part of the city’s Canada 150 celebrations, Signatures: A Canadian Spectacle pays homage to iconic moments in Canada’s history, showcases the country’s beauty and diversity, and celebrates its bright future in a visually-stunning 15 minute multimedia experience.

New in 2018, Projections on the Plaza will showcase a rotating selection of films created by talented Island filmmakers on a weekly basis. The local films screening as part of the Projections on the Plaza series are: Mondays—Queen of the Crows  (Harmony Wagner), Mabel’s Saga  (JoDee Samuelson); Tuesdays—Bluefin  (John Hopkins); Wednesdays—Blobby (Laura Stewart), Rainbow Valley (Alexis Bulman and Patrick Callbeck); Thursdays—A Brief History of Charlottetown (JoDee Samuelson), Crow Agenda (Jason Arsenault); Fridays—Lennox Island  (Jenna MacMillan); Island Green  (Millefiore Clarkes); Saturdays—Queen of the Crows (Harmony Wagner), Mabel’s Saga  (JoDee Samuelson).

Signatures and Projections on the Plaza launched in early July and play back-to-back, starting at 10 pm six days a week. The films are screened on the sandstone walls of the Confederation Centre overlooking Victoria Row.

On August 6, an informal social will take place immediately prior to the screenings at 9:45 pm. Attendees will have the chance to hear from a few of the local filmmakers featured in Projections on the Plaza, take in the evening’s films and enjoy some free snacks. All are warmly invited to attend the social and celebrate PEI’s local film community.
