There is something very tactile and sensuous in laying down a very wet ribbon of ink on paper with a favoured fountain pen in hand. Your mind slows, your thoughts coalesce, you pause, relax and experience a suspended moment in time free from the pings of our modern-day digital demands. This, to some degree captures my experience and hence my infatuation with fountain pens, ink and paper. To do lists, notes to self, cards, correspondence and drafts of heartfelt communications become somehow less arduous. Tasks such as these slant towards joyful with the ever so slight friction of the nib tip inking words across the paper. The pleasure of writing with a fountain pen is reminiscent of the excitement of making those first child like scribbles with a crayon or pencil.…
A group of Charlottetown area pen aficionados have been meeting over the last 18 months to talk fountain pens, nibs, ink, paper, pen care, manufacturers and the ultimate goal of writing. These get togethers are open to the curious, beginners and seasoned enthusiasts alike.
